LUNIGIANA

Armida is a ninety-four year old woman, who has lived as a sharecropper in the Lunigianan hills since she was a young girl. Lunigiana is a tiny region nestled between Liguria and Tuscany; the region's cuisine is celebrated for its use of both seaside and mountainous ingredients. In the film, Armida prepares gnocchi with potatoes that she grew, and one of the family's chickens, which is stuffed with bread, wild herbs, eggs and cheese, and slowly boiled.
